1952

Heavy smog covered London for 5 days. Approximately 12 000 people died from the long-lasting effects of smog. The British government passed the Clean Air Act four years later.
1960

The reduction in mortality, unaccompanied by a reduction in fertility, had a simple outcome: accelerating population growth. By 1960 many developing countries had rates of increase as high as 3 % a year
1970

During a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, activist John McConnell proposed a day to honor the Earth. The first Earth Day was observed on 21 st March 1970
1986

On the 26th of April, the Chernobyl disaster took place. It is considered the World’s worst nuclear disaster. Effects of atomic radiations between 1986 - 2005 could affect 6.4 million people
1990

Since the industrial revolution, we have been facing global warming. The global annual temperature increased dramatically, due to CO2 and other air pollution collected in the atmosphere.
2011 - 2019

Between 2011 - 2019 we were witnessing at least one ecological disaster a year, directly connected to our industrial or commercial activity. Besides that, we had an increasing number of forest fires and tornados, which are an effect of our activities.
2015

The Sustainable Development Goals were adopted by The United Nations in 2015 as a call to action statements to protect the planet, end poverty, and ensure peace and prosperity by 2030
2019

The COVID-19 pandemic started in 2019 and is an ongoing global pandemic. The pandemic had caused numerous effects on the economy, social life, and environment. It’s called the largest global recession since the Great Depression.

The world population in 2020 is approximately 7.75 billion people. In 60 years in comparison to 1960, we more than doubled our population and impact on the planet.
